Microsoft Office Professional Version 2002(XP) or 2003 (2000 may work)
Installation
Open the access database 'Onondaga.mdb'.
Run the 'Tools - Database Utilities - Linked Table Manager'. If no files appear in the window, click 'OK'. Otherwise, click 'Select All' , then 'OK'. If prompted, show the wizard where each of the linked files is located. All should be in the same directory as onondaga.mdb.
Connecting
Excel Workbooks to Access Database
Each excel application has a direct linkage to the database and must reside in the same folder as the .mdb file.
The database connection must be established when the application is first run by clicking on the 'Reconnect to Database' button
Repeat this process each time the application is started, the database is changed, or if errors are encountered in running the application.
If errors are encountered, try rebooting your computer.
If this fails, try reducing the size of the source query (master_filtered ) in the access database by limiting the year range and or station subset.
Help Screens
Documentation on the database and
applications can be accessed from:
The file 'ononodaga.chm' is
in Microsoft Html Help format. You may need to download a viewer utility if it
is not already installed on your computer- free download from Microsoft
Microsoft Office generates a security warning
each time the help file is accessed from excel. There may be a
way to configure it to avoid this.
Maintenance
After extensive
editing of the tables or queries, useless baggage will accumulate in the
database and increase its size significantly. Use the access
'Tools / Database Utilities / Compact & Repair Database' to fix
it.
Queries are provided to verify the integrity of
the access table linkages. These are not intended to be
comprehensive.
