Here is a key for a few of the symbols that are used on this site:

rt() = square route
sin-1 = inverse sine
^x = to the xth power

Due to restrictions of the internet, many fractions are written out like this: (1 ÷ 2), which is actually one half. Writing it out on paper will help when solving problems.
